Who We Are

AfroVillage is a community-rooted ecosystem of care, creativity, and collective power.
Our mission is to serve and uplift Black and Brown communities in Portland

Founded by Portland activist and organizer Laquida Landford, AfroVillage began as a vision — not just of housing, but of healing. What started as mutual aid in Old Town has grown into a movement centered on justice, abundance, and rest.

AfroVillage has built itself on these four pillars
Housing Justice
Afro Wellness
Climate & Food Resiliency
Digital Justice

From our weekly CSA, our monthly wellness gatherins, to free Wi-Fi downtown and the early stages of our central community hub, we’re creating spaces that nourish, connect, and affirm. This isn’t just about access , it’s about,
Reclaiming space
Rewriting the story
Reimagining safety on our terms.

We are not a charity. We are a future.
A future where everyone has what they need. Where rest is possible. Where Black liberation and Indigenous sovereignty are not ideals — but daily practice.
