Climate and Food Resiliency
At AfroVillage, we believe that climate justice and food security are deeply connected.
Climate justice and food secruity is rooted in care for our people and our planet. Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities have long practiced sustainability through land stewardship, mutual aid, and ancestral knowledge, yet have often been excluded from modern environmental solutions. Our work restores that legacy. Climate resiliency means preparing for a changing world while honoring the wisdom that has always guided us. It’s about reclaiming our relationship with the earth . This reclaiming is through growing food, protecting water, and creating systems that nourish instead of exploit.
From our community garden to the bioswale that will be at the AfroFuturism Oasis, we’re turning ideas into living examples of sustainability. We partner with local farmers, build food sovereignty through free CSA programs, and teach neighbors how to grow and harvest in harmony with the seasons.
Our goal is not just to respond to the climate crisis, but to regenerate, to build communities that can thrive through collective action, shared abundance, and deep respect for the land.
